Emergency Eyewash Station
Next to the charging place must be an emergency eyewash station. The route to the post should not be blocked and an employee who is injured should be able to go to the eyewash station from the charging place in 10 seconds without running.
Charger Safety
The charger should be the same amperage as the battery. It must be turned off when the battery is being plugged in.
Open Flames
While near a battery and charging area, open fire are prohibited. Do not permit things such as matches or lighters to be used when someone is inspecting the battery fluid levels.
Ventilation
The battery charging are also needs to be properly ventilated. The recharging process can release fumes. These fumes are both explosive and toxic.
