Forklift Parts in More Detail
A forklift is constructed from numerous components. The major components which make up a lift truck are the truck frame, the engine parts, the overhead guard, the tilt cylinders and the wheels. Moreover, a forklift has various types of attachments. All the parts making up a lift truck are of equal importance because they work together to make the equipment's functions possible. The subsequent paragraphs describe in detail some of the forklift parts.

The Overhead Guard - The overhead guard is really the forklifts metal roof, which sits atop the operator cab. It's job is to protect the operator while they are using the equipment. The overhead guard ensures that nothing falling from above onto the truck would damage the controls in the cab or harm the driver. The overhead guard is essential to the frame assembly on various models.

The Mast - Mounted either to the forklift frame or the front axle, the mast is the vertical forklift component made of interlocking rails. The mast enables the forks to move upwards and down while providing lateral stability. The interlocking rails could either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are a couple of ways the mast may be operated: hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders or chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor.

Forklift Carriage - The carriage is the component that the forks and various other types of attachments are mounted to. Actually, the carriage is directly connected to the hydraulic cylinder and is attached by chains. To enable the forks to be raised and lowered, the carriage can have either rollers or bushings to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.

Load Back Rest - While the carriage is lifted to full height, there is a back rest made of metal that keeps a load from falling backwards. The back rest is either welded or bolted on to the carriage.

Lift Truck Attachments - a range of attachments can be fixed to the front of the lift truck. The most common attachment is forks. What's more, there are rotators, rollers, L-shaped members, pole handlers, roll clamps and so forth. These various types of attachments are really useful for transporting different types of loads.
