A kind of device in the material handling industry that can be utilized to lift and transport loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Each and every component of a forklift has a particular function. Various parts can be used to transport the load vertically or horizontally.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the parts which lift and lower the load. There are different types of masts for lifting loads to different heights: simplex, duplex, triplex and quad.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is situated within the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the back of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is positioned within the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, tilting controls, brake and lifting controls are all located inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift components is the truck frame. This consists of the counterweights situated at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
