Kinds of Aisles
Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the types of aisles they have been designed to work in. These machines can turn in an aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are some aisle widths to take into account with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks can operate in less than 6 feet places, whereas some will use certain guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Some different models of VNA trucks consist of Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common models in compact retail spaces and in several warehouse and storage situations.
NA or Narrow Aisle trucks are able to work in aisles that are 8 feet to 10 feet. Normally these are stand-up models like Reach Trucks. They are usually used in storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is very spacious and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body fatigue by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat as well as a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and hence more productive while limiting fatigue.
