How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind when trying to perform tasks which would have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right alternative for carrying tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The machine has to be parked next to an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the charger or the control box, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area that is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can likely happen.
