Types of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
Construction lifts refer to the machines utilized to enable personnel to locate high-up places without building any scaffolding. They are utilized to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machines found in warehouse and factory settings too.
Boom lifts can usually provide powered and wheeled bases that can drive itself to the work place and have a platform on them to elevate the personnel. There are lots of different types of lifts and each one is suited to various tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Cherry pickers or bucket trucks, are built with a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where a worker can stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are utilized by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers usually utilize these kinds of machinery to prune trees.
Every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a regular truck, which enables these vehicles to move fast on normal roads. Furthermore, this increases the area which this machine can service effectively. This is particularly essential for power companies. Like for example, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to lift workers up so they could reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets must be frequently checked and properly insulated as they are working close to possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and have a work platform that is mounted on an arm which can bend in order to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-completed projects which do not need easy access to the area directly below the jobsite. These lifts can be utilized to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and areas which are difficult to clean. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
